This year’s show promises to be the best show ever created by the Coleman’s Hatch Horticultural Society, with the following being of interest :-
Starting with a spectacular range of entries to the many Classes of Competition, encompassing flower arrangements, vegetables, photos, children’s art, cakes etc. and the theme for this year’s show being the Moon Landing in 1969.
For those with an appetite, a bbq will be cooking hamburgers and sausages with veggie food, ice cream together with a full offer of refreshments and food in the tea tent and for those seeking something a little more stronger, The Hatch Inn is providing a beer and Pimms tent, sure to be a big winner.
To look forward to in the Main Ring the day will start with a children’s fancy dress, followed by children’s races of all types for all ages with a display by the Silver Swans Dance Group. Marco the Magician apart from entertaining the children with a Punch and Judy Show, will captivate their attention to many diverse tricks of the trade. The Sussex Army Cadets are looking forward to putting on a display of marching drill.
For music fans the New Orleans Echoes Jazz band will be playing many favourite tunes to entertain throughout the day and for those looking to run away to join a circus, a Circus Workshop will educate youngsters on the many attributes needed.
As regards education on crafts and careers, a Face Painter will show and create many interesting features for children to appreciate along with a wood turning and hedging display will offer insights into past skills with the local Fire and Rescue Team attending with a fully equipped fire engine.
For those seeking bargains, the White Elephant stall will as ever have many collectible items, along with the Book stall, Nearly New, Plants and Produce stalls.
For those wishing to try out their skills, opportunities are provided with a Coconut Shy, Chuck a Chicken, Nail in a Bale, Gnome Hoopla and not forgetting the ever competitive Tug O’ War contest for the Larkins Shield with a barrel of beer for the deserving winners, what’s left that is after every entrant receives a free pint ( over 18’s of course). Naturally everyone seeks to come home with something special, so to this year’s Raffle offers many exciting prizes, some of which are featured on our website www.colemanshatchflowershow.co.uk.
Trade stalls as ever come with a huge variety, with one Competition Sponsor, The High Weald Dairy offering a range of Artisan Cheeses suitable for vegetarians, complete with samples for cheese aficionados to experience the many diverse flavours and textures.
Finally what really makes a show, it is important to have a famous person to be our Guest of Honour and this year Natasha Kaplinski OBE will be judging the children’s competitions and awarding the many cups and medals towards the end of the day in the main marquee, good photo opportunity for all winners.
