This week our team held a meeting to discuss the remaining East Court Live event. The June and July dates fitted within the Governments published clear message to ‘stay at home’ and for obvious reasons we took the decision to cancel both earlier this year.
August 2nd has been more difficult to decide; Although the Government has released some details of the timescale for easing restrictions, we do not feel that the situation will change that much by early August and there will still be some quite restrictive social distancing rules in place to maintain the safety of our residents, the performers and our staff/volunteers. It may also be the case, that we will have to take a slight retrograde step if cases of Covid-19 start to increase again in the meantime.
In the end we have felt that we are a long way from being back to normal and that although this is a difficult decision to make, we have to make one.
We propose to cancel East Court Live in its entirety for this year and rebook all the performers to maintain the same line up for the first Sundays in June, July and August 2021.
We look forward to holding our events next year and to the time we can all get together without hesitation or reserve and the return of live music to East Grinstead.
