Three members of Team GB’s Olympic Hockey Squad – Sophie Bray, Laura Unsworth and Kirsty Mackay – are back for their domestic hockey for East Grinstead Hockey Club, who play in the Investec Women’s Premier Hockey League.
Whilst Sophie Bray and Laura Unsworth played in the gold-medal match, goalkeeper Kirsty Mackay was unfortunately kept out of the side by the goalkeeping supremo, Maddie Hinch, whose heroics between the sticks helped GB beat the Netherlands 2-0 on penalties after the game had finished in a 3-3 draw.
East Grinstead Hockey Club’s vice chairman Mark Hollis says: “They are great girls and they fit in really, really well. They are really down to earth.”
Since the success of Team GB’s ladies hockey team. East Grinstead Hockey Club has seen a surge in the interest toward hockey at the club.
Why not come and see our heroines as East Grinstead Ladies Hockey Team open their league campaign at home to Reading on 17th September.
