Freedom Leisure’s East Grinstead Sports Club has been awarded funding by Active4All charity and from the Police & Crime Commissioner’s Safer in Sussex Community Fund to launch Parkour for people aged 10 and over.
The sessions are available now every Tuesday from 16:30-18:00 OR 18:15 – 19:45pm.
Parkour combines free movement with overcoming obstacles. Traditionally it is done outdoors in urban spaces and includes climbing, running, jumping swinging and rolling. The idea is to work with the space in front of you and use physical strength and quick thinking to navigate a route around or over obstacles in your path. It is physically and mentally challenging but you don’t have to be ‘sporty’ to succeed at it. The sessions will be delivered and fully supervised by a Parkour UK accredited coach.
“Parkour is becoming increasingly popular and we are so pleased to have been awarded funding to launch it here at East Grinstead Sports Club for the first time,”
says Freedom Leisure Centre Manager Carl Tudor.
“Participation not only has obvious health benefits but also helps build community cohesion and reduce anti-social behaviour by providing a positive activity for people. Above all, it is an enjoyable pastime so why not come along and give it a go!”
Booking in advance is recommended as spaces are expected to fill up fast. Parkour will cost £3 per person per session.
